How to Detangle a Synthetic Wig Without Damaging the Fibers
Synthetic wigs can develop knots at the nape, ends and areas that rub against clothing. The safest detangling method depends on the fiber and the wig manufacturer's care instructions. Always check the label before applying products, washing or using heat.

- A wig stand or a stable surface
- Your fingers and a wide-tooth comb or wig-appropriate brush

Step 1: Secure the wig
Place the wig on a stand or hold it securely so the cap is not stretched. Identify the most tangled areas, especially near the neckline.
Step 2: Separate into sections
Start with a small section at the bottom. Use your fingers to gently separate larger tangles. Avoid pulling on the cap, knots or wefts.
Step 3: Work from the ends upward
Hold the section above the tangle. Gently comb the last inch or two, then move upward only after the ends are clear. Repeat with each section.
